ANGIE SANDRO'S A ZOMBIE?

I haven't done any writing for two weeks. I don't feel up to tackling the new story wiggling in my brain like a maggot after rotting meat. Too gross? Sorry, but it's the truth. I'm still brain dead from the revision. I want to start a new WIP, but I still haven't fleshed out all of the details.

The major one being whether I want to set this in the 1970's. It feels like I should because it has a dark edge that the modern world wouldn't support as easily. Cell phones, internet, computers ... these sorts of conveniences make the story I want to tell less plausible. It does mean I have to do a lot of research on the era. I also wonder whether there’s even a market for this book. Another area of research (I love research, lol).

Since I haven't made up my mind, I've put the story on hold. Which means its grip will get tighter and tighter. In a couple of weeks, I'll be walking around with this dazed look on my face and I'll be at risk of a head shot.

Angie Sandro after a night of editing.

I’ll probably end up writing it the way the story wants to be told. I don't have much control once the characters start talking in my head. I just go with the flow, then edit like crazy.

On Sunday, I'll watch The Walking Dead to see if my favorite character survives. *crosses fingers* because nobody is safe on this show.

I hope you all have a happy weekend.

  1. I'm right there with you. I'm revising right now. I should have been finished with it already, but I've been doing it off and on. I have been thinking about what I want to work on next. I have lots of ideas and unfinished projects.

I do really love books set in later historical eras--the 50s, 60s, and 70s. Those types of books are few and far between. I'm always on the lookout for them.

I'm super exciting for the Walking Dead on Sunday, too! You look great as a zombie. ;)

    1. Aw, shucks. You made me blush. Of course, you can't see it under all the blood, lol.

Good luck on revising. I should've done it off and on, but I tend to obsess once I have a project underway, then crash after I'm finished.

I'm glad to hear that someone would be interested in reading a book set in this period. I'll write it just for you! It's Tracey's book :-) I hope you'll like it.

  2. Now that's a face I wouldn't want angry at me!

1970's, around forty years ago, hm...hey - it's historical fiction! lol How weird does that sound? At least there are people alive who'd remember that era well and could help you with your research.

    1. Yeah, tell me about it. I'm historical now. It should be fun. I can break out the old photo album to see what I wore back in the 70's.

  3. Uhm, hate to admit it, but I'd probably be a good resource. Meanwhile, enjoy those wrigglers and relax about kicking back while they eat your brain. What's left will make a good story. I like your "go with the flow, then edit like crazy." Yup. No matter how much or little I plan, that's how it seems to end up for me, too. Happy weekend.

    1. Happy weekend to you, too. I hope the wigglers bypass your brain since you're brilliant and it would be shame to lose someone as talented as you to the zombie virus. Oh, and watch out. I may take you up on your offer of being a resource. My memory of the 70's consists of climbing trees, playing in mud puddles and chasing my little sister with worms.

    2. Well, I was doing a big-blue-bus tour with a theater troupe, NYC, LA, clubbing, and living the wild life, so some of my memories might be a little hazy for reasons other than age, but I do remember that time well. Happy to fill in whatever I can. Unless the brain-eaters get me first.

  4. I can't say anything to you as I haven't worked on my WIP in two weeks either. Bad. I've been very bad and lazy.

    Off to read.

    1. How can I chastize you when I know you part of your time was spent critiquing my MS? Many thanks for getting it back so fast. Everyone, Michelle is the PLOTHOLE QUEEN. The finder of lost and dangling threads. The one who digs me out of the quagmire I've fallen into. Rather than laugh at my desperation (which would be easy given her self-imposed name), she saves my sorry blank with blunt strikes to my head.

      Bless you, my Queen.

  5. Loving the zombified you, sis! And yes, The Walking Dead returns. I can't wait!
