Gabrielle knows his reputation as a womanizer is an exaggeration- knowing a human, in the biblical sense, means madness or death for any wizard. Their situation becomes even more trying when Samantha, shielded by the Wizard's redemption laws, ensures her residency with the Wyseman for as long as she is paying for her crimes. And she is not afraid to use all her seduction repertoire to try to win her fiancé back. Gabrielle contemplates the possibility that William might fall out of love with her. Pondering this predicament, William, Maggie and her prepare Gabrielle for her first visit to Hekapolis for the Akelarre, and given that Samantha is banned from the city she is glad to take a break from the competition.

The sanctuary of witches is a paradise of broom races, dragon riders, winged horses, unicorns and people of all backgrounds trading spells and potions with their family and friends from the seven corners of the world.

During the festivities, Gabrielle meets gorgeous Mitali -William's best friend- and she discovers there is a romantic past between them. Shocked by this, Mitali eases her fears by offering her a chance to use her magical gifts so that she and William can have a full physical relationship at last.

But the offer comes with a warning from her new friend: "Once I reveal my potion, you will have to choose between giving yourself to William in body, mind and soul...Or breaking up with him..."

 Praise for Celestial Blue Skies

Reviews Maggie Collins’ mesmerizing novel takes us deep into the hearts and minds of a Louisiana creole family struggling to maintain their dignity and traditional values within an uncompromising world full of poverty, superstition, and intolerance. Celeste, the main character, must navigate through the rigid cultural code demanded from her family as she strives to transcend the bad reputation her mother has acquired in the community. She soon learns that those demands, although at times brutal and suffocating in the hands of her grandmother and matriarch, Maymay, come from a source of genuine love and caring. The values she learns from her family are what eventually guide her towards a stronger sense of self and a better, self-fulfilling life. A fabulous read, full of engaging complex characters and fascinating situations, Celestial Blue Skies, invites us to consider that at times the only type of love that can help us survive is an exacting, fierce one. --J.L. Torres, author of The Accidental Native and Boricua Passport.

Maggie Collins writes about real people who live on the page. Celeste Bastille is a young woman who will win the reader and stay in her memory. Most of the characters are as vivid as Celeste and they are a family. As much as you want Celeste to find happiness in her own life, the family needs her. Collins weaves a tale as intriguing as the folktale that is the basis for the book. Celeste earns her Celestial Blue Sky. ~ Lee Grue, Editor, The New Laurel Review

It isn't often that I get to visit Creole homes in southwest Louisiana and just listen. I like to tell my friends here in Europe that New Orleans is a city of tribes who are more or less friendly to one another. Within the black community there are tribes with complex differences, within the white community there are tribes. But the tribe I love the most is the tribe of the heart. Ms. Collins is surely part of that. Celestial Blue Skies is a book of the heart. It describes a Creole family in southwest Louisiana some few years ago, with the authority of an insider. I found myself peering through watery eyes a number of times. Truthful books touch you that way. ~ Gordon Walmsley, author of Daisy, The Alchemical Adventures of a New Orleans Hermaphrodite, Editor, The Copenhagen Review

THE MASTER'S SUN

This show!

How to express how much I adored this show. It's not a surprise that I love ghost stories. I write about them, but I'm not usually impressed with movies or television shows about them. Maybe because I grew up with Stephen King as my bedtime stories so I'm hard to scare.

The ghost stories in MASTER'S SUN are creepy because the character, Tae Gong-shil, played by the gorgeous and extremely talented Gong Hyo-jin, is terrified by the ghosts. She's such a great actor that her entire body broadcasts her fear through the television set and into the watchers body.

Too much?

Yeah, so like I said I'm  hard to scare. What makes this ghost series so great is the actors and the humor in the writing by the amazing Hong sisters. This is easily one of my favorite dramas (A Man From Another Star being my top choice. More about that one later, heh heh).

Here is a mini synopsis:

Tae Gong-Shil began seeing ghosts after a mysterious accident. She became debilitated from the stress and lived her life as an outcast. Ghosts plagued her all the time. She couldn't sleep. She couldn't escape them, until she meets the Master. The Master, by Joo Joong-won, played brilliantly by So Ji-sub meets Tae Gong-shil by accident. When she learns all she has to do to banish the ghosts is touch him, she throws her pride out the window and sticks to him like a leech. And he returns the favor by agreeing to be her safety hideout on the condition that he can use her to abilities to further his ambitions.

OUR BROKEN SKY (CHAOS THEORY NOVELLA) COVER REVEAL-SARAH HARIAN

Release Date: August 19th, 2014
 Series Info: Chaos Theory #1.5

GOODREADS

SYNOPSIS:

In The Wicked We Have Done, readers were introduced to Valerie Crane. But you don’t know her the way you think you do. This is her story…

Valerie has always been different from her identical twin Veda. Tattooed, fiery, and foul-mouthed, Valerie acts on instinct, getting even with anyone who wrongs her passive, and sensitive sister.

At twenty-two, Veda doesn’t want to seek revenge against the three young men who raped her. As for Val…

Val never could manage her anger well.

As far as Val sees it, the Compass Room is simply a quicker way for her to die—payment for the crime she feels no guilt over. There isn’t a reason to fight, not until a girl as broken as she is reminds Val of what it’s like to hope…

EXCERPT:

Her name and crime come back to me…

Jacinda Glaser. Her suicide attempt killed a family.

“I feel alive here,” she says. “If I’m going to feel alive, then I want to stay alive.” Her face scrunches up, and another tear slides down her cheek. “The waiting is the worst. And now I don’t know why they’ve put us here of all places. Like they’re teasing us with something beautiful we could live for before they take it away.”

I can’t help it. I laugh.

Behind all of those tears she shoots me a dirty look. It’s sincere. I’ve angered her to all hell.

“I’m sorry. This place isn’t beautiful to me. It’s torture.”

Her cheeks puff out and she blows air out of her lips, glancing back toward the trees. It’s a ‘fuck off’ gesture if I ever saw one. I didn’t mean to insult her… not really.

“I hate waiting to die,” she says.

“Then don’t. Go out partying hard. Don’t wait for anything.” Hell knows that I never did.

I hold out my hand. She looks at it reluctantly before finally taking it, but then quickly drops it like she touched fire. “Jace,” she mumbles.

“Hi, Jace. I’m—”

“I know who you are.”

I cock my head. The tone of her voice is dark and a little vicious—at least, as vicious as I can ever imagine coming from her.

I should probably stop judging people so much on looks. Jesus.

“That so? Then who am I?”

Her courage falters a bit. I can see it in her eyes. She bites the corner of her lip and looks away again. “Triple homicide. All of those boys. They say that the evidence partially clears you because you couldn’t hang them all by yourself.”

“Partially clears me.” When I lean toward her, she doesn’t back away like I’m expecting her to. “What doomed me?”

“DNA. And the news… some of the news debates say that you… umm….”

I grin deviantly, and she finds the words.

“Have a psychotic personality.”

News to me. I just thought I was aggressive.

“And what do you think?” I take a step toward her, closing the space between us, and she looks up at me, her eyes narrow lines.

“You’re the kind of girl that parties hard on her deathbed, Valerie.”

She says my name like it’s sugar-coated toxic waste. I fucking love it.

MAKE IT COUNT COVER REVEAL-MEGAN ERICKSON

MAKE IT COUNT excerpt:
Kat gathered her books and stuffed them into her plaid Burberry messenger bag, then headed toward the front doors, smoothie from the library snack shop in hand. Head bent, fiddling with the clasp of her bag, she stumbled into a wall of human on the pavement outside.
“Oh, I’m sorry—” Her voice dropped out when she realized the solid flesh belonged to Alec, Max’s best friend.
She’d only met him once or twice before he’d moved in with Max this semester and every time, he cocked his eyebrow with a half frown like he knew something she didn’t. Which he actually did, since he had brainy superpowers. Smarter than a speeding Einstein. Able to leap over C-minus students like her in a single bound.
She didn’t trust people that smart. And she didn’t trust a guy who didn’t ogle her ass or leer at her boobs like every other member of the straight male species on the planet.
Right now, that raised-eyebrow frown pinned her where she stood. His pale green eyes behind thick black frames roamed over her shoulder to the library and then back to her. With his pin-stripe button-down, dark jeans with Converse shoes and hair styled in a short, messy pompadour, he looked like a nerdy Elvis.
His frown morphed into a smile when he spotted the smoothie in her hand, and she definitely didn’t notice his full lips. “You know, you don’t have to venture into the forbidden zone just to get a smoothie.”
Oooh. The jerk. She glanced around surreptitiously, then leaned in and spoke in a low voice. “Just play it cool. Don’t let it slip someone like me snuck in the library.” She gripped his forearm and whispered. “Password today is rosebud.”
His face blanked and he looked at her like he’d never seen her before. Kat debated whether or not that was an improvement over his other look.
But then those intelligent eyes narrowed and a smirk curled his lips. “I know. We nerds get an e-mail every morning.”
See? He always needed the last word. She propped a hand on her hip and leaned in. “Well, sounds like you have a mole. Might want to look into that.”
He opened his mouth but she cut him off. “Just looking out for you guys. Anyway, see ya around!”
Before he could shoot back a snarky comeback, Kat skirted around him and bounded down the stairs. She chalked that up as Kat 1, Alec 0.

Author Bio:

MEGAN ERICKSON grew up in a family that averages 5’3” on a good day and started writing to create characters who could reach the top kitchen shelf.
She’s got a couple of tattoos, has a thing for gladiators and has been called a crazy cat lady. After working as a journalist for years, she decided she liked creating her own endings better and switched back to fiction.
She lives in Pennsylvania with her husband, two kids and two cats. And no, she still can’t reach the stupid top shelf.

A CHANCE TO BREATHE

Well, I'm out of my writing cave. Sorry to have been gone so long. I feel like I’ve neglected you. I tried to keep the blog fairly current by posting some awesome cover reveals, but I apologize for not keeping you updated during my writing hiatus. The good news is I finished the last book in my series coming out this summer, DARK REDEMPTION, and did it by my deadline. It’s off with my editor.

Now, I’m recovering because, WOW, that story took me on a wild ride. I swear, by this last book those characters lived and breathed. Mala and Landry had a story to share with you all, independent of anything I wanted. I just typed and tried to keep up while they sent me on a terrifying, yet at times, hilarious adventure. Their love really shined brightly in everything they did, and I’m extremely grateful they were my muse.

My goal upon writing this series was to make sure each book was better than the preceding. I often read a first book in a series, fall in love with it, then buy the second book only to be disappointed.

As a reader, it sucks. I fall in love with authors, and when I find one I like, I'll read everything they've ever written. As long as the author consistently provides a good product. I don't expect every book to be brilliant, but I don't want to feel like I wasted money that could've gone to a book I would've enjoyed more. If you know what I mean?

Anyway, this goal is what I strove for and what constantly played in my mind as I wrote.

Which to be honest, at times, made it difficult for me to remain focused. All of my doubts and fears took turns rearing their ugly heads. I started second guessing myself and stalled writing to work out various plotlines to be sure I really wanted the story to go in a certain direction. Those insecurities can be debilitating if you get sucked in too deep.

It wasn't until I realized that my characters knew the story they wanted to tell that I let myself go.

OH MY GOSH! It was so freeing. The words flew off the page. Half the time I couldn’t believe what I was typing. It sounds crazy, but hey, it worked. I love it. I’m proud that I wrote it. And I can’t wait for you all to read it because I hope you fall in love with Mala and Landry too.

Thanks for hanging in there with me. I'm enjoying this small chance to catch my breath before the DARK SACRIFICE edits arrive next week, then it's into the editing cave.

So what have you been up to since I've been on hiatus. Leave me a comment so we can catch up.
